〰️ BESPOKE MENTORING PROGRAMME FOR ART THERAPISTS
*THIS IS NOW OPEN TO ANY & ALL IN THE HELPING PROFESSIONS*
PREPARING FOR PRACTICE
POST-QUALIFYING, PRIVATE PRACTICE & CLINICAL AREA CHANGES
Over years of supervisory practice Alison has indentified a clear need for
a specific Art Therapist Mentorship Programme. .
THIS IS A WORLDWIDE MENTORING PROGRAMME FOR ANY ART THERAPIST WHO QUALIFIED IN THE UK AND REGISTERED WITH HCPC.
In ring-fenced, meaningful, timed online sessions, Alison will help you work out:
WHAT you want to do
WHERE you want to do it
HOW to make that happen and
WHEN is the right time
All within the context of your HCPC Registration competencies and othe legal requirements.
Mentoring primarily will likely be before any direct client work is undertaken, though we may be exploring whats next from where you currently work too - it may be helpful after you’ve gathered a few years of experience and are ready to develop an independent or private practice, you’re looking to return to practice after a break, move into another area of practice, or you are a newly qualified art therapist/professional/artist having to navigate the world of independent, commissioned work without your University, placement supervisor or fellow student support. These can be lonely situations where it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, not knowing where to start or worrying about missing something crucial. It’s also an easy place to start to lose confidence and motivation. Alison’s mentoring will counter-act this with you and in due course you may want to move into one of Alison’s monthly online Mentoring Groups, to grow your contacts and peer support once more.
Alison has had many comments from her established Mentors and Supervisees to support this development - saying how useful something like this would have been at different points in their careers previously. Newer Supervisees shared how they found it invaluable to use their early clinical supervision sessions in this way. Here are some comments:
“This looks like an important and beneficial new service, I will certainly promote this to my art therapist friends and colleagues, well done you! I hope to use the service myself when applicable to my needs.”
“I’m sharing this with a few people I know who support trainees and have lots of connections. You are great at this!”
DESIGN & CONTRACT
All sessions will be 1-2-1 and via Zoom.
Art Therapy Mentoring is different from Clinical Supervision: it is defined around a particular need/project, it is practical in nature and will have agreed actions to be achieved between sessions, with a goal of designing an appropriate way forward to reach your chosen outcome. As such Alison has created a price reflective of this difference.
Your first mentoring contract with Alison will be for a block of 4 sessions, an hour long and weekly or fortnightly in the first instance.
This block is paid for in full at the start of the mentoring agreement and will be offered at a special rate of £160 (as of May 2022 - Alison reserves the right to alter prices anytime).
After this, further sessions may be purchased ad hoc, at an hourly rate of £45 or more blocks of 4 that may be more frequent or with numerous weeks between, depending on your need and the amount of work identified in the mentoring that you may need to do inbetween sessions. Once direct client work is undertaken, you may decide to move to Clinical Supervision with Alison, or not - please note this is NOT an expectation nor requirement of the Mentorship.
Group Mentorship sessions will be offered in due course as the Mentorship programme develops. Please notify Alison if this would be your interest or preference.
JOB APPLICATION & INTERVIEW PREPARATION
If you would like a 90 minute session for Job Application & interview Support, please get in touch.
Alison has a good track record in helping people be successful at interview:
“Alison used her own valuable experience to guide me through the interview process. She was able to ‘walk’ me through potential questions that I may be asked, as well as prepare me on up to date current policies and themes relating to the job specification. Alison gave me the confidence to use my ‘artist’ self in the interview and that this would be my unique selling point. Unbelievably, this was the thing that indeed landed me my new position and my employers were particularly impressed with the passion I showed towards artmaking. I really could have not have done it without Alison’s patience, professionalism, enthusiasm and her wealth of knowledge!”
“Alison helped me think about where I am in my career and what kind of role might align with my personality, values, interests and need for work-life balance. She gave some useful tips for job applications. This has borne fruit as I secured the job I really wanted. I’d highly recommend a conversation with Alison; she is a skilled and experienced practitioner with the ability to cut straight to the essence of things and find creative solutions. ”
“Alison has been a great in support with my recent successful job interview, by helping me acknowledge my strengths, build my confidence as well as think about different dynamics in the job role and how my skills can be adapted to fit. So lucky to have Alisons support and above all outstanding knowledge in my art psychotherapy journey.”
